Dr. Laura Brattain is an Associated Professor of Medicine in the Dept. of Medicine at University of Center Florida (UCF) College of Medicine. She is a core faculty member at UCF Institute of AI and holds secondary positions in the UCF College of Engineering and Computer Sciences and Institute of Simulation and Training. Dr. Brattain did her PhD research at Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Her research integrates biomedical artificial intelligence (AI), medical imaging, and surgical robotics to enable early diagnostics and less invasive medical interventions. Dr. Brattain is an IEEE senior member.

Outside of her biomedical engineering research, Dr. Brattain is a group fitness instructor and has been teaching multiple formats such as Barre, Pilates, Aqua, and Total Body Conditioning. Her teaching emphasizes the connection of mind and body and aims to promote physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing.
